Issue 2: 1D = 1B
Press, OG sales, influencers, the Worm, a $CDB token, golden dickbutt awards, and more!
Given the recent confluence of media exposure, OG sales (reaching 9.8 ETH), billboards in Thailand and steady growth of S3 volume, it’s safe to say that something is definitely happening. And in light of our rising consciousness, marked by a one year anniversary, perhaps there’s no better way for Issue 2 to open than with a few words from the 1932 classic, Reminiscences of a Stock Operator:
“It never was my thinking that made the big money for me. It always was my sitting. Got that? My sitting tight! It is no trick at all to be right on the market. You always find lots of early bulls in bull markets and early bears in bear markets. I've known many men who were right at exactly the right time, and began buying or selling stocks when prices were at the very level which should show the greatest profit. And their experience invariably matched mine--that is, they made no real money out of it. Men who can both be right and sit tight are uncommon.” - Edwin Lefèvre /Jesse Livermore.
That said, and rambles aside, there’s a lot to cover so let’s dive in.
The Worm:
"When you share The Worm, it leaves behind a numbered Hologram of itself" - the Worm NFT
Time functions differently when meandering through the ever expansive discourse of Web3. Compared to traditional industries, its rhythms are almost analogous to Miller's Planet from Christopher Nolan's sci-fi epic, Interstellar.
In that sense, while the Worm may feel fairly antiquated, the perennial impact and legacy of its hologram in our wallets still deserves a mention. Especially as it was (and still is) a testament to something that, (like the theme of love in Interstellar), makes the CDB family special. Trust and solidarity.
As a side note, a word of thanks goes to Banananjam for helping compile the following breakdown and negotiating with Pact of the Quickly to transfer the Worm. In essence, this wouldn't have been possible without his efforts. A similar summary can also be found in the Redlion Gazette discord.

During December last year, The Red Lion Eye Gazette community got hold of The Worm. Then a betrayal happened.
Someone sold it to Cryptodickbutt.
Just when it seemed like the Worm would never be free again, "Gib Cat Worm", held a Twitter poll to determine the next recipient.
Over the next few hours, The DickButtDAO heroically banded together and led the competition by 4000 votes. But it wasn't to last. In the final moments, rumour has it that the person who sold the Worm to Cat bought more votes, and thus helped the Pact of the Quickly pull ahead.
Cryptodickbutt (Cat) respected the outcome despite accusations of buying votes made by all sides.
Shortly after, Banananjam spoke with Pact of the Quickly members and asked if CDBs could be next in line to receive it.
After reaching an agreement, The Worm was sent to the Dickbutts, where it travelled across an initial 43 wallets (including the DAO wallet) under 5 hours. This was a truly remarkable achievement considering the Worm had an open bid of 1.5 ETH (approx $6658) at the time, which anyone could have pocketed (another example of trustless, decentralized transactions).
After seeing all those dicks and butts, The Worm wanted more and found its way over to Naughty America!
And finally, ProbCause later designed this inspired POAP artwork to commemorate the event:
All in all, this POAP celebrates core facets of the CryptoDickbutt community. And in that sense, will forever serve as a reminder that 1D = 1B
Interview with BAS:
While our community has no shortage of notable holders - sometimes it isn’t about the !size of the wallet or followers on CT.
What matters is the intention and heart they bring, or continue to nurture, even from day one. They are those who don’t espouse elitist notions or arrogance despite their foresight, but rather lend a sense of depth that has the power to connect, and uplift likeminded folks the world over. And while no stranger to countless accolades, they are those who retain humility and inspire a belief. A belief that any dream and vision are more than possible to realise.
As such, there could be no one more fitting for our second interview than the legendary Bas.
Q: How and when did you first hear about CryptoDickbutts?
B: Right after I bought my first CryptoPunk actually. Dickbutts were talked about for a while in the punk chat, and one day the 4200 ETH alien punk sold right as people were sharing their dickbutts; and my first thought was, “What the hell is a dickbutt” (I literally posted that), thinking, people are insane for this. And then my second thought was “This is the most degen thing I’ve ever seen” - mind you, I was still fresh to NFTs at the time, but had been in crypto long enough to have some idea on when it’s time to degen and when it’s not. And this was the time to be absolutely degenerate. So, naturally, my second thought was, “I want one.”
The context for all this is not really known to most people who know me in the space. I come from the TradFi world, and like others, was taken aback by what happened in 2021 in the crypto space. One single event last year brought crypto to the airwaves of hundreds of millions of people around the world, after being relatively unknown and rather niche for the decade it was in existence - and of all things, more so than all the sophisticated projects that very intelligent people had worked on since Bitcoin’s inception, it was Dogecoin. Dogecoin, a stupid meme coin, was what introduced crypto the wider world for the first time, and onboarded tens of millions of people to buy their first coin, and served as the gateway into the rest of crypto. And that’s my thesis with the NFT space too - it really takes something relatable, ‘stupid’-enough to make sense to the wider masses for NFTs to actually reach mass adoption, and I think Dickbutts are the best candidate to achieve that. My friends irl would hardly blink an eye at a record ArtBlock sale, but are far more excited by a meme. By definition (thank you, Richard Dawkins), the meme replicates fast, and what better meme than one that has been around since 2006, older than Doge, and a deep part of OG internet culture, with an NFT born out of the cryptopunk chat right as punks hit their seminal moment of the 4200 ETH alien sale - which was also the moment that legitimized the NFT space for the first time in many of our eyes.
Q: Do you remember or still have your first CDB? What was/is it?
B: Of course! An OG dickbutt, Series 1 - still have it in my vault.
Q: What are some of the key metrics you look for when buying or analysing any potential Dickbutts for your portfolio?
B: I prefer clean dickbutts with as few traits as possible - that’s just my personal taste but in the past year or so of virtually studying dickbutts on a daily basis, a couple traits have really stood out - the “Got ETH” trait is an absolute classic, and extremely rare.
Q: What do you believe is the most underrated and undervalued aspect of CryptoDickbutts?
B: I think a lot of people, as I did once, initially look at Dickbutts as stupid and a prime example of total degeneracy. What I think most people learn, particularly once they stop and really think about it - is that if we are able to place thousands of dollars of value on a floating jpeg of a dick and a butt, priced in a floating digital currency - then we truly *get* NFTs. Dickbutts are just as absurd, or real, as our Fidenzas and the finest of NFT art.
Q: Where do you see the future direction of the collection?
B: Dickbutts were designed to be perfect the way they are, just like punks, without any promises of ‘roadmaps’ and ‘utility’ that many projects in the NFT space end up failing to deliver. They’re cryptodickbutts! I… can say that there are community-driven efforts, underground, that are working on some remarkable ideas, one of them being the purchase of a real, physical Gooch Island - the long-lost native homeland of dickbutts as prophecized in the lore.
Q: Do you have any advice or insights for newcomers?
B: Spend time in the dickbutt discord and get to know the community for yourself! We’re filled with artists, musicians, writers, and lots of creatives.
Q: Lastly, what does the dickbutt meme and community represent to you?
B: A year into dickbutts - I am so grateful for the community that has formed around dickbutts. It’s been absolutely crazy - I think for a lot of people, they come into the dickbutt discord to let loose and be themselves, taking off the edge from all the volatility and madness that is crypto. I’d bet a lot of dickbutt holders (myself included) barely even know the floor price at any given day - that’s not what drives this community at all.
Q: Any closing thoughts?
B: Just want to echo, if you get why something as absurd as a dickbutt has immense value on the blockchain, then you truly *get* NFTs.

While the official auction date is still pending, an associated $CDB token has been launched for supporters to own a piece of history. The vault holds the original CryptoDickbutt #1 and its derivatives, including one rare CryptoTitVag .
Further developments about the vault and token will be announced soon.

Golden Dickbutt Awards:
Last but not least, an award ceremony (organised by Meadzy) was held to celebrate active community members (both new and old) throughout 2021. Thirty people were initially selected (with others voted in later) due to their collective voluntary contributions ranging from memes, songs, derivatives, or simply being a friendly and warm voice on Twitter and Discord.
When asked about the context and inspiration behind the idea, Meadzy replied: "I spoke to ProbCause about it, and he designed the epic Golden Dickbutt trophy that we sent to all of the top community members of 2021. I then thought we should go one step further and provide some custom merch so the winners can show off their CDB in public. Being careful not to doxx anyone, I started messaging people on the list. I noted the specific CDB reference/number they wanted to have printed on their merchandise - and then sent them out along with a unique Killer Acid themed coffee mug. I know it isn't much, but it felt good to give back to the people in the community in some way."
